Exporting Machine Data

Machine data exports allow for the analysis of sensor readings outside the Cula Platform. Historical data provides insights into equipment performance and supports operational reporting. Further they can serve as external backups of machine data for regulatory or warranty purposes.

Defining a Machine Data Export

1. Navigate to Machine Analytics:

From the left sidebar, select Machine Analytics.

 

2. Open Export Sidebar:

Select Exports in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

 

3. Create a New Export:

Select the + button at the top of the Machine Data Exports sidebar.

 

4. Define Export Identifier and Format:

Provide an Identifier for the export (e.g. "Backup Last Month") and select the desired Format (Matrix or List).

  • Matrix
    • Provides a CSV file per machine with one row per timestamp, containing all sensor values reported at that time, each in a separate column.
  • List 

    • Provides a single CSV file across all machines with one row per sensor value with its timestamp.

 

5. Set the Time Range: 

Select the Absolute Range, Relative Duration, or Fixed Range tab to define the data export period.

  • Absolute Range: Select both Start and End Dates and Times

  • Relative Duration: Input the time range as free text (e.g. "last 4 weeks"), followed by the reference point and time anchor 

  • Fixed Range: Select from a preset of time ranges, which are evaluated at the time of export 

 

6. Select Sensors:

Choose between All Active Sensors or Manual Selected Sensors to determine the sensors to be included in the export.

 

7. Save the Machine Data Export Settings:

Select Save and Start Export. 

Note: Larger exports may take a few minutes to be prepared. 

Downloading a Machine Data Export

Download the Machine Data Export:

Once the status in the sidebar shows Available, select the Download icon to save the machine data export locally as a ZIP file. Unzip the ZIP file to view the CSV file(s).

 

Re-triggering a Machine Data Export

Re-trigger a Machine Data Export: When a machine data export expired, or when you want to run an already defined machine data export again, click on the Repeat icon and follow the steps of Downloading a Machine Data Export.


Note: Re-triggering a machine data export can be used for regular export needs. E.g. a monthly backup can be defined once, using a relative time range of “Last Month”, and then re-triggered every month.
