Carbon Standards International's Global C-Sink ecosystem provides a secure framework for climate-positive transactions. Standardized protocols allow participants to validate their environmental impact through a verified chain of custody.
Obtaining a C-Sink Trader Endorsement
Traders must be endorsed by Carbon Standards International (CSI) to manage or retire credits. This certification is valid until December 31st of the following year and requires annual renewal.
Register as a Trader
Contact CSI to sign the service offer and register for EASY-CERT cloud credentials. Review Section 1 of Endorsement of a C-Sink Trader for Global C-Sink for the full 8-step approval timeline.
Complete Mandatory Academy Training
Attend the C-Sink Trader training module within the Academy. This training is a prerequisite for the final endorsement audit.
Provide System Documentation
Submit a user manual and a workflow flowchart for your trading system. The flowchart must specifically demonstrate how your internal processes prevent the double counting of carbon units.
Pass the Endorsement Audit
Schedule an audit meeting with CSI. Upon success, the account gains full privileges to transfer and retire credits within the Global C-Sink Tool.
Transferring Credits to Customers
Credits can be moved to any registered customer account either via the Cula Credits module or via CSI's Global C-Sink Tool. Note that partial transfers (splitting a unit) can only occur once; the recipient cannot divide a partial transfer further. Please reach out to support@cula.tech for CSI's "MANUAL for User, dMRV, C-Sink Trader".
Access the Inventory
Login to CSI's Global C-Sink Tool, navigate to Stocks, click the C-Sink tab, and select Verified C-Sink.
Initiate the Transaction
Click Actions for the desired Stock ID and select Transfer complete C-Sink or Transfer C-Sink (partial). Refer to Section 4.3 of the Manual for detailed data entry requirements.
Finalize Approval
Notify the recipient to approve the transfer via their Transactions tab or email notification. The recipient must take action within 10 days before the transaction link expires.
Retiring and Trading Credits Further
Endorsed account holders can retire credits for their own sustainability goals or manage them for third-party clients.
Perform a Retirement
Login to CSI's Global C-Sink Tool, select Retire C-Sink from the Actions menu in the Verified C-Sink view. Choose the appropriate retirement type (1,000+ years, 20 years, or 1 year) as defined in Section 4.4 of the Manual.
Set Public Transparency
Input the beneficiary details and adjust the Transparency settings. These settings determine what data appears in the public Global C-Sink Registry.
Secure Proof of Retirement
Download the official Retirement file from the Stock or Transactions tab. This document serves as the final proof of the carbon removal's permanent removal from the market.
